Quote from sjava :Wasnt a bad game at all but its the first time since 2000 that Liverpool win at Arsenal and I think they have to thank a certain new player.

I wonder what you consider a bad game, then.

I think the new player did ok, given the conditions. It's the Arsenal's nature of not caring about their players mixed with dodgy investments that kills them, in my opinion.

Liverpool wasn't great as well, but I think the light in end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

Cool, you have lanes for emergency vehicles!

I don't, and people can't be arsed to move away when an emergency vehicle needs to pass, so it's the same, really... Everyone thinks they're the only ones in the world.

Ok it's a dirty job but someone has to talk about the Copa América (America Cup) 2011, which is happening in Argentina. If you're not familiar, the Copa América is a South American competition with national teams (plus some invitees).

So this edition has been... poor. I mean terrible, awful. We're already in the late stages of the competition, and I can remember one or two decent games. Goals have been rare, the ball has been treated like shit, players thought they could win by their names alone.

So now we'll have the semifinals, with Peru vs. Uruguay and Paraguay vs. Venezuela. Brief words about the quarter finals:
La Celeste Olímpica, fourth in the last World Cup, won against Argentina in an epic battle decided on the penalty kicks. Muslera, the Uruguayan goalkeeper, was a true hero that managed to do several nearly impossible saves throughout the match, something you don't see that often. If I'd had to recommend a game for you guys to watch, that would be it. Or you can go with the one below, for the lolz.

Brazil vs. Paraguay on another quarter final had a similar story - only more boring and with no goals. Playing some miserable football, the Brazilian team tried to put pressure on the Paraguayan defense for the whole match but failed to score every time, with some laughable attempts. The white/red side had a somewhat good defensive game, and not much more. The worst was about the come, though: on the penalty kicks, the yellow side managed to not score any goals, with only one shoot going in the right direction! Paraguay made two goals, and went through to the semis.
I guess we (Brazil) will have to realize sooner or later that we're not that good anymore (for some time now). The good players are getting old/retiring, and with one or two exceptions, our new generation is ok at best.

Venezuela won against Chile, in an awful match. Peru won against Colombia, in a goddawful match!

My bets are on Uruguay now.

Edit: Oh, I nearly forgot! Messi made a couple of good games with his national team!

I see, thanks for that!

This is the kind of feedback I'm looking for when I post here. This thread made me go from a "never-cared-about-it" state to a "wow-I'm-starting-to like-this" state, but I really have no clue about the non-technical side of things.

Gonna remember that next time.

Quote from spankmeyer :May I ask what was your focus in this?

Of course you may ask. The guy on the left? But then again I did regret not focusing on the girl. Guess I was too busy trying to not make her notice me pointing the lens at her...

As usual great stuff from yourself, by the way.

Four from me this weekend, including some old stuff. In order:

Sanctum - Boring story, annoying characters, dull caves, awful movie.

The Book of Eli - No so bad till the end comes. Then it cheats and nothing you saw makes much sense really. Bad.

From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter - Pretty average for a bad movie. Some funny stuff and some nice shots. Apparently this one 'explains' the origin of Salma Hayek's character in the original FDTD.

From Dusk Till Dawn - Pretty good for a bad movie. Crap action, hilarious conversation, gratuitous violence, naked women. Quite entertaining.

I skipped the FDTD 2, as apparently it doesn't matter to the story and I couldn't find a single person/review that said it was watchable.

Quote from jrd.racer :well my winter dosn't even get that cold. (tbh ja dosn't really have winter). Hiking to blue mountain peak (highest peak here) is the coldest we will get here. Up there is the coldest iv'e ever been. (2c lol)

Meh.

My winter is always 10C/50F and up. 10C at night, obviously. Not uncommon to reach 28+C/82+F during the day. And my winter lasts 3 months. I've never seen snow.
The other 9 months it's always 30+C/86+F and rain rain rain.

Just awful.

It's horrible to race. You can't breath and you start sweating all over the place and then the mosquitos... the mosquitos!!

Makes for a great excuse when you spin, though.

Yeah you gotta give credit where it's due, so there you have it Barcelona.

Tonight they won at football itself, brilliantly played, and not by diving and whining like some other times.

Man U did try, but how can you enter a game against a team that has 80% ball possession with ONE defensive midfielder? Well then again, who played defensively against Barça and won?

Oh and I'm 28, and in my book Messi already overtook Zidane as the greatest I've had the privilege to see. Damn alien.

Quote from de Souza :I'm at work right now but I'll dig the article when I get home. You'll have to live with Google translation though...

Here it is:

The brief technical explanation;
A bit more;
A little bit more;
Why it doesn't work with diesel or two-stroke engines;
The actual fuel consumption test.

Hopefully this is accurate. If the translation is indecipherable just ask and I'll try to make up for it. I've seen there are some weird things, like when you read 'speed' in 'Low speed and high load', consider it 'engine speed', as in RPM.

I remember reading an article in a brazilian website that did test what method were more efficient fuel consumption wise (high gear + throttle wide open or low gear + throttle more closed).
The result was that the high gear method consistently provided better mileage (if speeds aren't important). I believe all cars tested were manuals, as we don't get many autos here and it was made a while ago.

I'm at work right now but I'll dig the article when I get home. You'll have to live with Google translation though...

I've watched a few in the last days:

Tron: Legacy and Sucker Punch: great for your eyes and ears, and not much else. I kinda liked both for a casual entertainment but I can understand people bashing them.

Requiem for a Dream: I have no idea what to think of it. I won't even vote for it on IMDB, I don't know if I liked it or not. All I can say is that it's painful to watch, even disgusting at times; but somehow I don't regret watching it.

To lighten the mood a bit...
(500) Days of Summer: damn you Zooey!
